The Past, The Present and The Future
We are excited to bring you ‘The Kauri - Past, Present and Future’ to the Western Bay region.
In this exhibition you can expect to learn about:
The history of the local logging of our mighty Kauri Tree, which include our feature artefact which is a wall sized dam structure which are the original remnants of the Wairoa Dam. Kauri logging saws, two man chainsaw, wedges, axe heads and much more on display.
A display on Tudor Collins who was the photographer and bushman that recorded our history.
Our Kauri are in danger and in our local region here the Kauri Dieback has is the last region in the country where there is no disease.
In our education programme, information Kauri Dieback kits are issued to all students visiting under the programme.
This exhibition will run from June - November 2019.
